Cover Art Trivia
Is the figure on the cover of Passport to the Cosmos Joe Firmage?

San Francisco magazine illustrated an article about experiencer Joe Firmage with a photograph by Kevin Kirby (below right) which bears an uncanny resemblance to the cover of Passport to the Cosmos.

Additional Cover Art Trivia
The star at the top of the cover was originally a saucer, in the artwork the publisher came up with. Dr Mack and the staff at PEER (his research organization) felt it would be better to have a strangely luminescent star rather than a saucer, so that viewers of the cover art would be able to decide for themselves what they were looking at.

The similarity was pure chance, and the timing remarkable: Proofs of the cover art of Passport to the Cosmos arrived at author John Mack's office for approval the same week that this issue of San Francisco magazine arrived on newsstands.
